“This is absolutely extraordinary. I have read self-help books for 30 years plus, and while a lot of them had valid points, so many of them were in conflict with my upbringing in the Christian faith, and so were difficult for me to receive. This, while not religious per se, tracks beautifully with the teachings of Jesus. I absolutely LOVE that! The let go & know concept is in agreement with Christ’s “except you come as a child” stance. He said the kingdom of heaven was at hand (here & now) and that it was within you. You put into new words that ancient message and it resonated so beautifully with my heart. I have use the exercises several times since reading the book and can say, for the first time really, my relationship with the little girl I was has come into the sweetest space… I’ve done inner child work before, where I’ve held my infant self who was starving (from a pediatrician who instructed my teenager mom that ‘fat’ babies should only get water, not milk)…it broke a rage-around-being-hungry I’d suffered through for a lifetime. I have never been able to really embrace my four year old self before. She’s the one whose parents divorced… And the one who couldn’t hold their marriage together, no matter how well-behaved she was. Being able to let her know she could stop being the caretaker of everyone’s trauma was huge. I feel like the message of your book needs to be shouted from the rooftops. Truly. So much of the personal growth work books I’ve read before, and SOOOO much of the “therapy” I’ve endured did not allow for change to be so effortless. It’s like dropping an old cloak. The Bible says that. I feel like I’ve worn this cloak over who I am for so long… And being able to drop the dross and ALLOW who I was created to be to come forth IS being born again. On an interesting sidenote… I bought a house last year that needed so much work and has been in constant chaos. While there are still tremendous repairs left to be done, since reading this book, I have been able to declutter and organize and make it lovely despite its flaws for the first time. I’ve noticed I’m not eating myself into a stupor at mealtimes (in fact half a bowl of soup is satisfying)… I’ve turned my “office” space into an art studio & am EXCITED about life again…”
